Marantz Project D-1 Review

The soul of the D-1 is the legendary chip. This is not the standard version. Marantz selected the TDA1541 S1 "Double Crown" grading. In the 1990s, Philips tested these chips; the standard version was good, the "S1" (Select 1) was better, but the "Double Crown" (S2) was the holy grail of R-2R ladder DACs.

The defining feature of the Project D-1 is its use of DAC chips. These chips were the highest-grade versions of the legendary TDA1541A, specifically selected for their superior linearity and ultra-low distortion. marantz project d-1
