The high crime rate is not evenly distributed across the capital. Police data and reports indicate that certain districts and areas are chronic hotspots. The Dwarka and North Delhi police districts were identified as the worst-affected areas for burglaries. The public transport network is also a major crime scene; in 2023 alone, 29 metro stations were designated as crime hotspots, with Kashmere Gate station leading the list with over 1,000 cases, mostly theft and pickpocketing. Areas like South-West Delhi (Sagarpur), New Usmanpur (Yamunapar), and Narela-Bawana have also been flagged for high incidences of crimes against women and robbery.
