Abstract This paper analyzes a niche recorded combat event — the June 24, 2019 match between Jasmine Sherni and Vic, distributed under the "EvolvedFightsLez" label — to examine competitive dynamics, production framing, and audience reception in specialized combat media. Using a mixed-methods approach combining qualitative video discourse analysis and quantitative coding of match events (strikes, takedowns, submissions, dominant positions, and turn-taking), the study explores how editing, commentary, and match choreography influence viewer perception of competitiveness and narrative. Results suggest that production techniques amplify perceived competitiveness while selective editing and commentary construct fighter personas and a micro-drama that aligns with niche audience expectations. Implications for ethical representation and labor practices in small-scale combat production are discussed.
