LineageOS 14.1 is the most historically stable framework built for the gtexslte architecture. It completely strips away Samsung’s bloated TouchWiz interface, freeing up several hundred megabytes of RAM.
Boot into : Press and hold the Volume Down + Home + Power buttons simultaneously. Release them when a warning screen appears, then press Volume Up to continue. Launch Odin on your PC as an administrator.
Open on your PC and connect your tablet via a USB cable. The ID:COM box in Odin should turn blue, indicating a successful connection.
You will need to use the Odin tool on your PC to flash a custom recovery image (TWRP) onto the tablet. This replaces the stock recovery and allows you to install custom software.
For browsing, YouTube, reading, light gaming, and media consumption, a custom ROM like LineageOS 18.1 gives this 2016 tablet another 2–3 years of useful life.
