In 2009, a video began circulating on Korean portal sites and blogs titled "Solbi's manager leaked video" or "Solbi Video". The 30-minute clip featured a woman who bore a striking resemblance to the singer Solbi (Kwon Ji-an), leading many to believe it was authentic.
The perpetrators admitted they , but they used her name anyway to attract attention and make money. One teenager, 18-year-old Kim, posted the video on his blog and used "clickbait" advertising that redirected users to other sites, for which he was paid. In police interviews, they chillingly said they did it "for fun" or to "make money" from web-hards, where they could earn between 20,000 and 30,000 won per download.
