She pursued her legal education with distinction, graduating from the Faculty of Law in Zagreb in 1947 and earning her doctorate from the University of Belgrade in 1950. Her academic career was stellar. She became a full professor and the head of the Department of International Law and International Relations at the University of Belgrade’s Faculty of Law, a position she held from 1973 until her retirement in 1985. Her expertise was recognized far beyond Yugoslavia. She was a visiting professor at leading universities across Europe, Asia, and America, including Harvard and Columbia, and served as the president of the World Association for International Law.
